Case Study 2

Case Study 2 – Conflict Resolution, Physical Intervention and Safe Holding for a National Shopping Centre Chain

The Challenge:
RISC Associates were asked to design a bespoke course for operational security staff covering conflict resolution, physical intervention and safe holding. The purpose of the course was to standardise methods and approaches across the entire business portfolio.

The Solution:
RISC Associates responded to the initial brief by;
• Review of existing policies and procedures as they relate to the subject matter.
• Meet with representatives from the clients learning and development team to ensure the course presentation
  and delivery mirrored their existing methodology.
• Designed a one-day pilot course programme.
• Delivered the pilot programme to a select group of operational security staff and management representatives.
• Made adjustment to course content following the pilot course delivery.

The Result:

340 operational security staff attended the initial phase of training with an overall satisfaction score of 97.7%. This course is now used as the benchmark for conflict resolution, physical intervention and safe holding standard operating procedures. A short version of the course has been designed for duty managers, to aid their understanding enabling them to effectively manage incidents.
The client said “Our teams now have a clearer idea of how to conduct themselves in line with our security procedures and our conflict resolution training course. This has meant that our teams are more confident and professional in conducting their duties”.
