Case Study 3

Case Study 3 – Office of West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner – Business Crime Prevention

The Challenge:
RISC Associates were successful in winning a tender to work with the Office of West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner targeting business crime. The project priority was to support small to medium enterprise businesses, initially working in the Central Birmingham postcodes areas and then extending across the West Midlands. There were two key elements to the project;
1. Preventative Service
2. Reactive Service

The Solution:
RISC Associates responded to the initial brief by;
• Developing half day awareness workshops in specific subjects including retail loss prevention, conflict
  resolution, robbery awareness and cyber-crime awareness.
• Created a bespoke crime prevention review document for small to medium enterprise businesses.
• Developed a specific marketing campaign, creating networks and designing flyers along with social media
  exposure to promote the project.
• Representatives from RISC Associates met with BID (Business Improvement District) Managers and local police
  representatives to develop a partnership approach.
• Designed a reporting matrix to monitor and measure service delivery.

The Result:

The overall project ran for 9 months. The initial 6 months targeting the Central Birmingham postcode areas and then extending across the West Midlands Force area.
A number of half-day preventative workshops were delivered in various BID areas, with excellent feedback from those attending.
Crime prevention surveys were carried out along with support to businesses who had been the victims of business crime.
Post project, RISC Associates continue to work with individual BID areas delivering a range of training and consultancy services.
