 RISC Associates participated in a competitive tender exercise to design a bespoke course for customer facing staff and operational security staff covering conflict resolution, breakaway concepts, physical intervention/restraint and knife and edged weapons training.

The purpose of the course was to impart new knowledge, experience and give the learner groups a level of competence and confidence in dealing with a range of conflict scenarios.

RISC Associates responded to the initial brief by;

• Reviewing existing policies and procedures as they relate to the subject matter.

• Meet with representatives from the client’s senior management team to discuss historic events, gain a better understanding of the learner groups and the key learning outcomes for each group.

• Designed a two-phase course. 

• Phase 1 – A one-day course for customer facing staff and security staff. Topics included conflict resolution and breakaway concepts training.

• Phase 2 – A one-day course for security staff. Topics included Physical intervention/restraint, knife and edged weapons awareness training.

• Pilot courses were delivered to each group in turn.

• No adjustments were required, and a number of courses were delivered to each learner group over a 3-month period.

All learner groups achieved the learning outcomes and a high level of customer satisfaction as evidenced in their post course evaluations and subsequent follow up reviews. RISC Associates has been retained as the preferred supplier for these specialist topics and training has been extended to other teams within the university campus. RISC Associates are also delivering bi-annual refresher courses for designated groups with the goal to refresh existing knowledge and enhance the learners skill-set.
